Modern Fairytales Reimagined

Each spring, students in my undergraduate Children's Media and Culture course at NYU reimagine classic fairy tales for contemporary audiences. Using generative AI alongside traditional storytelling, students create original short films, illustrated narratives, comics, games, and interactive media that reinterpret familiar stories through the lens of today's social and cultural landscape.

From digital identity and artificial intelligence to climate change, community, and belonging, these projects demonstrate how timeless narratives continue to evolve across new technologies and generations. The showcase highlights the creative possibilities of emerging media while encouraging students to critically examine the stories we inherit—and the ones we choose to tell next.

The works featured here were created by my students as part of their exploration of AI-assisted storytelling, design, and media production.
