Solo Exhibition | The African Women's Cultural Society (TAWCS) | Brooklyn, NY | 2023
Dolls & Quilts presented the textile and sculptural works of artist Ronah Harris, exploring themes of Black identity, cultural memory, ancestry, and storytelling through handmade dolls and quilts.
Drawing upon traditions of African American quilting, folk art, and textile craftsmanship, the exhibition examined how fabric and everyday materials can become vessels for personal and collective histories. Through the construction of soft sculptures and layered textile compositions, Harris explored the relationship between making, memory, and representation.
The exhibition reflected Harris's interdisciplinary practice, bringing together traditional craft techniques and contemporary artistic expression to celebrate the cultural significance of Black women's creative labor.
